## Description:

Rosewood's Bailiff is modeled after the Imperial Overseer. They are given authority over the entire City Watch and tasked with upholding the rule of law within the Capital under the Mayor's Marshal. Despite serving the Marshal, a Bailiff can easily gain access to the Mayor's side and request aid from them whenever the need arises. Bailiffs are also in charge of the largest guardhouse in Rosewood, where they have their own work and living quarters. While the rest of the Watch wear the standard red uniform, the Bailiff's uniform is dyed in the blue of the French Sirius flag, decorated with rose embroidery and golden fleurs-de-lis. They also wear three red stripes around their left bicep.

## Mechanics:

### Warrant

{% code title="#guardhouse" %}

```javascript
r!warrant <@user>
```

{% endcode %}

*Used to give a **@user** the `AOS` (Arrest on Sight) role; meaning their homes can be raided, they can be spotted by Watch members, and are to be arrested as soon as possible. Just like* [*Outlaws*](https://docs.medievaldiscord.com/miscellaneous-mechanics/outlaw-mechanic)*, they will have a chance to be instantly arrested if they try to go* [*outside*](https://docs.medievaldiscord.com/channels/moving/inside-vs-outside) *of Rosewood, return inside, or if they attempt to use commands that expose them to the public.*

* **Command Cooldown:** `24h`

{% hint style="warning" %}
*Bailiffs usually place warrants on suspected criminals or those who have somehow escaped justice/eluded the Watch's initial arrest attempt. However, malicious or corrupt Bailiffs can issue warrants against innocent citizens who they want gone. This does not mean Bailiffs can issue warrants randomly.*\
\
*The `AOS` role is covert, meaning it is not visible IC upon spotting the character that has it. Regular users don't know someone is to be arrested on sight unless they know the person personally, and know that there is an arrest warrant against them. However, members of the Watch are given a general description of every person with the `AOS` role and may arrest them on sight.*
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
*Arrest Warrants can be placed on any character, except High Nobility!*\
\
*This includes characters with the `Intermission` role!*
{% endhint %}

## In-depth guide:

Bailiffs work closely with the Marshal and the Mayor to ensure the City's gang population is under control and that every law-abiding citizen remains lawful. Since the Bailiff can't progress any further, their main objective should be the accumulation of wealth and power through controlling the gangs of Rosewood, be that through mutual cooperation or by destroying them. There might be more profit to be made if a Bailiff works with criminals, however, the price for Malfeasance, or in other words, corruption, is death. By having access to the `warrant` command, Bailiffs can crack down on specific criminals or they can take out any of their opponents.
